Norway is the westernmost nation of the Scandinavian Peninsula with its southern coast on the Kattegat and Skagerrak, a waterway that is actually an extension of the North Sea. In the far north there are locations where the country is less than 100 kilometers or 60 miles in width. Given its highly indented coastline and nearly 50,000 offshore islands, the total Norwegian coastline is nearly 22,000 kilometers or 13,620 miles in length.
